Grandma Betty’s Sugar Cookies

This is from a really old Betty Crocker recipe book. This has been our family's xmas cookie baking tradition

Ingredients:
  

Directions:

  • Cream together sugar and butter. Mix in egg.
  • Stir in the milk and vanilla.
  • Combine baking powder, salt, and flour.
  • Add flour and mix until thoroughly combined. Shape into disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate until firm. Several hours or overnight.
  • Roll out chilled dough on lightly floured surface. Roll thin and cut to desired shapes.
  • Bake at 425° for 5-7 min or until lightly brown on bottom and edges.
  • Cool and ice as desired.

Notes

Depending on size and thickness of cookies, this does not make a lot of cookies. We usually double the recipe. Quadruple batch fits in the Ankarsrum mixer with plenty of space to try for more, can probably fit 6x batch.
